Ever wondered what it would be like to go an entire week without food?
Sound crazy?
It might be, but here’s why I did it
And why I ended up loving every minute of it.
How It Started:
I have daily mastermind sessions with my business partners, and in one of those sessions at the start of August, one of them mentioned that he always wanted to do a 7-day fast…
But he wasn’t sure if he was “ready,”
That’s when I stepped in.
I said, “If you do a 7-day fast, I’ll do it with you because that sounds like a great mental challenge.”
Then we set Monday, August 12, as the date and committed to doing it together.
Increasing The Stakes
But I said hold up… that’s not enough
How could I increase the stakes and make sure there are consequences?
So I thought…
hmmm let me announce this fast publically on social media,
And I did that for a very specific and powerful reason.
One Powerful Human Psychological Bias:
Once I announced my fast,
I knew I would leverage one powerful bias that we all humans have.
Commitment Bias:
By telling others about my 7 Day fast,
I felt an intense commitment that I had to stick with
Because now, this was a matter of staying true to my word
The thought of explaining or giving an excuse as to why I failed was more than enough to make sure I completed this
Who wants to look in the mirror and see someone unreliable and unable to commit?
I know I don’t.
Then there’s another layer I added to this
I believe the best story that you’ll ever read is your story.
So, it’s not just about making my goals public; it’s about documenting my journey, a.k.a my story.
The “Tell - Do - Document” Framework
Here’s a simple strategy to capture the stories you create
Tell: Announce your goal publicly. This taps into commitment bias, compelling you to follow through.
Do: Take necessary action to achieve your goals. This is the most important. NOTHING ELSE MATTERS MOST THAN THIS.
Document: Share your journey, including your progress, challenges, and victories.
Here’s the “Tell - Do - Document” in action
My 7-Day Fasting Journey

If you want to follow the exact 7-day fasting protocol I did, you can click the link below.
The Deeper Lesson:
What began as a fun mental challenge for me turned into something much deeper
As I was doing the 7-Day fast and making it public, there were tons of common reactions I got from people
They would say things like
“I could never do that.”
“I’d die If I didn’t eat for 24 hours."
“Yeah, that’s impossible for me to do.”
And it made me think…
Why?
Why are people saying such limiting things and putting a self-imposed barrier before they ever even tried?
You’ve never tried before, but your first thought is…
I could NEVER do that
I’d DIE
It’s IMPOSSIBLE
This reminded me of the quote…
I realized that most people create self-imposed barriers that hold them back WITHOUT EVEN REALIZING IT.
Think about it…
How could a person fast for seven days when the first thing they do is put a self-imposed barrier?
“Words are energy and cast spells — that’s why it’s called spelling — Bruce Lee.”
Your Mindset Is EVERYTHING:
My response to hearing a 7-day fast
“Let’s do it! That sounds like a fun challenge.”
No self-imposed barriers
Attitude of someone who likes challenging things
Others responded to hearing a 7-day fast
“Never,” “I’d Die,” “That’s impossible.”
Self-imposed barriers
Attitude of someone who doesn’t challenge their limiting words/thoughts
Now, to be clear, ANYBODY can do a fast. All you’re doing is NOT EATING. lol
But the bigger point I’m trying to make is I don’t allow myself to have limiting thoughts around challenging things I hear
Anytime I’m going through something challenging OR hear something challenging, I don’t have thoughts or say things like
That’s impossible
I could never do it
etc.
Or if I do, I quickly correct myself because I believe your mindset is your biggest asset.
2 Types Of Lifes
Life Type 1: limitless life
Accomplish the goals you set for yourself
Life Type 2: Limited life
Never accomplish goals because of the limits you place on yourself
The sad part is most people don’t correct their mindsets. It’s filled with limits they aren’t even aware of.
Your mindset directly impacts what you achieve.
If you believe you can do something, you’re already halfway there.
If you don’t believe you can’t do something, you’ve set yourself up to fail.
And the beautiful part of life is… you have the option to choose how you want to operate and navigate your life
I have accomplished countless goals I set for myself because I NEVER EVER put limits on myself.
One goal that I accomplished that MANY MANY MANY people give up on is the ability to heal chronic back pain.
My interview with my coach is below.
Note: If you read the comments with people who have chronic lower back pain, you’ll see a lot of them giving up before they even start.
Here’s what I want you to do:
Pick a goal you’ve been struggling with. It could be anything—starting a new habit, finishing a project, or tackling a personal challenge.
Now, apply these timeless principles:
Mindset Shapes Reality. What you think directly impacts what you achieve. If you believe you can do something, you’re already halfway there. But if you start with limits, you’ve set yourself up to fail.
Challenge Limiting Beliefs. Don’t let self-imposed barriers hold you back. You can do it.
Embrace Discomfort for Growth. Real progress happens when you push through the challenging moments. Growth is often on the other side of discomfort.
Document Your Journey to Build Momentum. Share your wins, struggles, and lessons learned along the way. This will turn your journey into a story others can follow and learn from.
Make Your Goal Public to Hold Yourself Accountable. When others know your goal, the commitment bias works in your favor. Now, you have to get it done.
Do this, and you’ll create a solid framework for success.
You’ll realize that accomplishing your goals is mostly about your mindset and the strategies you choose.
So this week, take that step.
Challenge your limiting beliefs, embrace the discomfort, and start documenting your progress.
